The murder of a delivery worker in the province of Buenos Aires has generated strong political controversy. The province's governor, Axel Kicillof, harshly criticized President Javier Milei for announcing the creation of an award in honor of the murdered delivery worker, Lucas Aguilar, in Moreno. Kicillof accused Milei of politically profiting from the tragedy, labeled him as marketing with pain, and held him responsible for the social impact of his economic plan.
In the midst of the confrontation, the president recalled Aguilar's bravery and his sacrifice for a stranger, urging Milei to act responsibly and return allegedly illegally withheld funds. Furthermore, Kicillof invited the president to address the issue of security in a serious and responsible manner, offering to meet in his office or at the Casa Rosada.
Aguilar's crime occurred when he was arguing with Leonardo Merollo, a street vendor, and was attacked by Luis Benjamín Benítez with seven stabs. Benítez, who was arrested hours later, also injured Merollo, who remains hospitalized. Milei seized the situation to criticize Kicillof's management of security, pointing out a supposed wave of insecurity in the province.
